Latino Victory Announces Support for Candidates Across the Country

(Washington, D.C.)— In advance of Election Day, Latino Victory announced support for seven Latino candidates nationwide. The newly supported candidates include:

Pete Aguilar, U.S. House of Representatives (CA-31)

Ruben Gallego, U.S. House of Representatives (AZ-7)

Norma Torres, U.S. House of Representatives (CA-35)

Alex Padilla, Secretary of State of California

Hector Balderas, Attorney General of New Mexico

David Garcia, Superintendent of Public Schools of Arizona

Nellie Gorbea, Secretary of State of Rhode Island

“There is no question that Latino representation in elected office is not reflective of the size of our community,” Cristóbal Alex, President of the Latino Victory Project said. “However, in this year’s midterm elections, there are dozens of impressive Latinos running for office. These candidates have the potential to serve as powerful voices in future policy-making decisions that will impact the Latino community for years to come.”

In May 2014, the Latino Victory PAC announced endorsement of seven federal and state level Latino candidates. The endorsed candidates include:

Raul Ruiz, U.S. House of Representatives (CA-36)

Joe Garcia, U.S. House of Representatives (FL-26)

Pete Gallego, U.S. House of Representatives (TX-23)

Amanda Renteria, U.S. House of Representatives (CA-21)

Charlie Crist & Annette Taddeo, Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Florida

Leticia Van De Putte, Lieutenant Governor of Texas

Lucy Flores, Lieutenant Governor of Nevada

“There are two kinds of races to watch leading up to Election Day. The first are those where the Latino population is so large, significant turnout could directly impact the race outcomes. And the second are those where the races are so close that even low Latino turnout could make all the difference,” Alex said. “This year — more than ever before — we cannot afford for any single Latino voice to stay home. We are eager to see the results on November 4th, and we are hopeful that the Latino community unites together in this historic moment.”
